The batter comes together in just a few minutes, so the apples don’t have much time to brown. But you can also mix it up first and slice the apples afterward if that’s easier. If you like, you can also sprinkle the apple slices with a little lemon juice to keep them from browning. I worked quickly, so I didn’t find it necessary this time.

This looks amazing and I can’t wait to try it as our apple tree is bursting with beautiful fruit. One thing I’m not sure if though is how to stop the apples going brown. You peel them first before making the cake but they don’t look brown . Advice please!
